A paper stamp card is the simplest loyalty program there is, and also the easiest for a client to lose, forget, or simply stop bothering with. What keeps a client coming back is less about the card and more about how well a salon keeps track of them.
Loyalty is noticing, not just rewarding
A client who feels remembered, their usual cabin, their favourite time slot, their session history, comes back for reasons a points system alone does not create.
A points card only works if it is effortless
If earning or redeeming points needs an extra card, an extra step, or an extra question at the till, it gets skipped during a busy moment, and eventually forgotten altogether.
Spotting a client before they disappear
A client who used to come every two weeks and has not been in for two months is a signal, if anything is actually tracking that pattern. A loyalty program that only counts visits misses this entirely.
