Starting the sunbed from its own button: faster sessions in summer

The customer starts the bed when ready, the desk moves on to the next sale, and Solaryx knows whether the bed actually ran.

With Solaryx, a session sold at the till can now be started from the bed itself. The customer goes to the cabin, gets ready, and presses the bed's own start button. The relay box reads that button and reports the state of the bed back to Solaryx, so the till knows the session has started and whether the bed actually ran. It comes with the bed controllers, at no extra cost.

Why start the bed from the bed?

Between the sale and the start, a customer needs a few minutes in the cabin: undressing, applying cream, putting on goggles. When the bed is started from the desk, someone has to guess when the customer is ready. Either a member of staff walks to the cabin to ask, or the customer comes back to say so, or the session starts while they are still getting ready.

With the button on the bed, the timing belongs to the customer. The session starts when they are lying down, not when the desk thinks they are.

What changes at the desk on a busy summer day?

In summer, the desk is where the queue forms. Every trip to a cabin, and every return to the screen to start a bed, is a minute the next customer waits. Starting from the bed removes those trips:

  • Sell and move on: once the session is sold and the bed is assigned, the desk serves the next customer. Nobody waits by the screen for a signal.
  • No walking to the cabins: staff no longer go and check whether the customer is ready.
  • The customer decides: the session starts when the customer is ready, so nobody loses minutes they paid for while still undressing.
  • The real state on screen: the bed picker at the till shows which bed is waiting for its customer, which one is running and which one is cooling down.

What does Solaryx know about the bed now?

Until now, Solaryx sent the start and stop commands to the bed. The connection now runs both ways: Solaryx also reads back what the bed does. A command alone cannot tell you that.

The session starts in Solaryx at the moment the bed really starts, not at the moment it was sold. And a session that was sold but never ran is visible as such, instead of looking like a session delivered.

Does the desk lose control of the beds?

No. The session is still sold at the till first, and the legal checks stay where they were: age, skin type and the delay between sessions are checked at the sale. The button only starts a session that the till has already accepted.

Starting from the till stays available, for a customer who needs help or for a test run without a customer. The bed's own timer and safety devices keep working as before: the relay box counts the time sold, it is not a safety device.

Does it work with my beds?

The button the customer presses is the start button already on the bed, so nothing new is fitted in the cabin. As with the connection itself, we check each bed model before installation. Send us the brand and the model of each bed, and the answer comes before the installation day, not on it.

How much does it cost?

Nothing extra. The two-way connection is part of the bed controllers, which are included in the Solaryx setup and stay on loan for the length of the contract. The subscription does not change.

Frequently asked questions

Does the customer need an app or a code to start the bed?

No. They press the start button that is already on the bed, once the session has been sold at the till.

Can staff still start a bed from the till?

Yes. Starting from the till stays available, for a customer who needs help or for a test run without a customer.

What if the customer never presses the button?

The bed does not start, and Solaryx sees that it did not run.

Does it cost extra?

No. It is part of the bed controllers included in the setup, and the subscription does not change.
