Why a generic till struggles with tanning salon packages and subscriptions

Session packs, monthly subscriptions and multi-service memberships need more than a price list.

A generic till is built to sell a product for a price. A tanning salon mostly sells something else: a pack of ten sessions, a monthly subscription, a membership that covers several services. None of that fits neatly into a price list.

A package is not just a discount

Selling ten sessions for the price of eight is easy to ring up once. Tracking how many are left, for which client, across every visit afterwards, is what a generic till was never built to do well.

Subscriptions renew themselves, or they should

A monthly subscription that has to be manually re-entered and re-charged every month eventually gets missed, usually during the busiest week, which is exactly when it matters most.

What this looks like at the counter

With packages and subscriptions built into the till itself, a client's remaining balance and renewal date are simply there when they check in, no separate spreadsheet required.
